Wireless IoT condition monitoring and predictive maintenance system across 38 key-risk points at the National Aquatic Centre, detecting equipment faults before failure, with zero shutdowns during installation. Winner of FM Project of the Year (Public Sector) at the FM Awards 2026.

Bidvest Noonan appointed Lumina 360 to design and deliver an IoT Condition Based Monitoring system for the National Aquatic Centre, one of Ireland's most prominent public sports facilities. The goal: detect potential equipment failures before they occurred, without disrupting a facility that runs seven days a week.

Following a site survey in December 2024, Lumina identified 38 key-risk monitoring points across the building's mechanical plant: pumps, boilers, air handling units, expansion vessels, and booster sets. Wireless clip-on sensors across eight sensor types were deployed over a LoRaWAN network, with three gateways and a high-gain rooftop antenna ensuring full coverage through the facility's heavy concrete structure. No shutdowns. No rewiring.

All data feeds into the Lumina+ platform, with bespoke dashboards, alarm logic, and real-time email alerts sent directly to maintenance engineers when parameters go out of bounds. The system proved its value within weeks: a boiler fault detected on a Saturday allowed the team to intervene before the facility lost heating entirely.
