Investment Grade Decarbonisation Report
Identify every opportunity
An Investment Grade Decarbonisation Report is a thorough engineering X-ray of your facility's current energy performance. It gives you a complete picture of every decarbonisation option available: costs, savings, paybacks, and financing routes, so decisions can be made with full confidence and the investment is sound.

What it is
The IGDR starts where most assessments end: with a complete engineering survey of every significant energy system on site. Lumina engineers analyse utility bills and tariff structures, measure operational conditions, review controls strategies, and run detailed financial models, surfacing every meaningful saving opportunity.
The methodology prioritises optimising existing equipment first, and only then investing in new upgrades. This approach typically surfaces no- or low-cost measures that cover the IGDR cost within the first year alone.
Cost vs. benefit
The IGDR typically costs approximately 2% of the 10-year potential benefit it identifies. For most facilities, immediate no-cost measures alone cover the IGDR cost within one year.
The two-stage process
Site survey and opportunity identification
A comprehensive engineering assessment of the facility, covering all mechanical and electrical energy systems. Stage 1 culminates in a workshop to review every opportunity and select the measures to take forward.
- Analysis of utility bills, tariff structures, and fixed energy costs
- Detailed site survey covering all mechanical and electrical equipment
- Measurement of operational conditions: temperatures, air speeds, pressures
- Analysis of existing controls systems and operating strategies
- Engineering calculations of savings across multiple upgrade scenarios
- Capital cost estimates with quotes for major equipment
- Financial analysis of all identified opportunities
- Workshop with client to review findings and select Stage 2 measures
- Support for immediate implementation of no- and low-cost measures
Investment-grade analysis and design
Selected measures are developed to concept design level with firm costs and detailed financial analysis. The Stage 2 document is the technical foundation for engaging designers, contractors, and equipment suppliers.
- Installation of temporary metering on equipment under investigation
- Concept design development: design narrative, draft schematics, controls strategy
- Firm market prices for equipment and installation
- Detailed financial analysis with sensitivity modelling for energy price volatility
- Workshop to discuss the final IGDR and confirm the path to implementation
- Handover to EED Implementation Support during project delivery
What you receive
- A prioritised register of every energy and carbon saving opportunity on site
- Detailed engineering and financial analysis: capital cost, annual savings, payback period, CO2 reduction
- Grant eligibility assessment across SEAI EEOS and other applicable schemes
- A Stage 2 document suitable for tendering and contractor engagement
- An independent, credible technical foundation for investment decisions
- Immediate support to implement no- and low-cost measures during the IGDR process
